Phoenix Switch-On-The-Fly Chip (DISCOUNTINUED) (Disabled)
Power Hungry no longer sells the Phoenix/TS chip, but if you need custom tuning we can recommend a few really good tuners that will be able to still provide tuning and support for your chip.

If you have any other questions or comments about the Phoenix/TS chip, please post it here.

Default My PCM prep for the chip arriving tomorrow

You guys tell me if this looks clean of silicon:





And this is how I cut the holder bracket to allow for room for the chord. Having never seen an installed chip before, I don't know if this is a big enough hole for it or not.





How do they look?????

Edit: HAHA, I just noticed the bottle of Jack in the last picture! Well,that's my wife's favorite drink when watching Lost, I'm more of a beer man myself!

Actually, Bob, those traces look a little TOO clean. You may actually have issues with the thickness of the board.

You need to cut a little bit more of the holder out to the top (left side of the photo) and get rid of the top mounting bolt boss and then you'll be good to go. You only need one bolt holding the PCM holder in place anyway (and the bottom bolt happens to have the metal tab in it).

Are you serious about this part? I didn't use anythng but my fingernail and toothpicks to clean between the fingers of the connector.

They look copper color in the pictures. Are they still silver? If they're still silver then you have nothing to worry about.

I use my fingernails too.

yeah, I think thats just the flash. They arent copper colored at all, they are totally silver. I was more concerned about whether or not they looked free of silicone.

Yeah, they look really good then, Bob. I was serious about being too clean. Most folks will sand all of the tinning off of the traces and then the chip terminals won't make good contact due to the thickness problem....you'll see what I mean when you get the chip.

With regards to the hole in the pcm holder, I thought I was best off going conservative tonight, and then if I have to cut more off tomorrow thats fine. I just didnt want to go too far tonight

You won't get the chip in there........

Not trying to be sarcastic or negative, but it won't go.

ON EDIT:

My daily driver test mule doesn't even have a holder on it. I change the PCM so often that I just let it rest right on the metal bracket.

Well, correct me if Im wrong, but I cant imagine that its physically possible to sand the tinning off with just a thumbnail.
