Tips on basics? Like rev limit and shift points
Anyone care to share how in the world you do this with minotaur? I've played with it a few times, but now I need to actually be productive with it for a tune that I have and I haven't figured out how this is done. I need to work with the rev limit and change shift points including TC lock. All this is for WOT drag runs.
Thanks. |

Oh BOY!!
Rev Limit: Fuel limit for RPM in "maps". You'll see it falls off early. Depending on version of your .mdf, "parameters" will list a Max RPM of 3600. That SHOULD be changed to whatever you want as your limit. It may also be listed as "NIDES_MX" or something like that (I can't recall off hand what it is exactly) also listed at 3600. I will put some more up here tonight with screenshots.

Cool, a 'How To Tune for Dummies' post would be much helpful.
pics are always great. Thanks! Edit: I found Engine Speed Desired Maximum, and Engine Speed Maximum. Difference? Last edited by DZL JIM; Mon, July 13th, 2009 at 03:23 PM. |

Here are some things I did to make a kick-*** tune for a TDE1 that I came up with quite a while ago. I have since changed a few of the shifts to make it more daily-driver friendly. This one shows a "liveable" 1-2 part throttle shift point. Also, the 3-4 shift is quite a bit lower in this tune than the original due to a (what I call) nice 45 MPH 3-4 shift like a super duty has. This shot doesn't include pulsewidth or SOI changes. The blue lines on the Mass Fuel Desired graph are stock "fall offs". The black line in the Fuel Limit vs. RPM is the stock map.
Notice the early 2nd gear lockup during a late 2-3 (heavy throttle) upshift. By the time it shifts to 3rd, it's already locked. However if you're making WOT runs, the shift points should occur at the WOT shift parameters vs. road speed/TP input. Questions, comments, or errors....... Feel free to critique.

Welcome DZL JIM,
Keep in mind there is a very small number of us actually doing our own tuning with Minotaur... however we love to share and chat. so feel free to ask all the question ya want... Cody did you change the TCC duty cycle times, torque reduction or lockup shift delays on that tune? just thinking that's gotta be aweful hard on the tranny at full throttle upshift from 2-3

Wow, great info. I need to digest all of this...
First question, how do you get tables instead of the 3-d maps? And how do you pull up the shift schedules? Thanks! |

Nope. It's a TDE1 for a 97. There aren't any of those functions at all. No TCC duty cycle on that one since it's an on/off solenoid valve. No torque reduction or anything. Shift pressures and slopes are all that are available.
