Default Mountain Tunes?

I will be using the 80 DD tune the most, it will be 80% mountain highway, I have seen another tuner offering a 80E mountain tune.

My question is this needed or will it provide any benefit? can Bill make a custom tune for the mountain highway driving?

The "mountain" part of the tune is going to be a "high altitude compensating" type tune. Some folks will tune to aid in smoke reduction and start of injection to help with the lower atmospheric pressure of high elevations. Shift strategies can also be manipulated to cause slightly later upshifts as to not bog down the engine.

I sincerely believe that Bill's 80 HP daily driver tune will work excellently for you....even in the mountains....but there is always the possibility that he will work with you to get a truly custom tune specifically for what you need to do.

Do you feel their is any improvements to be had by adjusting any of the "altitude compensator's", or is the factory stuff pretty good?

I used to wonder if the factory knew what they were doing.

There are a lot of things I like about factory tuning and a lot of those things I actually started leaving alone.

I think Ford had a few things pretty well nailed-down.

I am using my modded version of Bill's 80hp as my daily driver here at 6000 ft + I changed the setings for the factory high altitude compensation maps(low boost fuel, SOI etc) that kick in at 4500 ft.. Bill leaves them at the factory settings I think. made other changes too... Honestly I don't think really notice a lot of difference but I drive pretty conservatively.... It's plenty of power for my needs...

there are also some tranny stuff for elevation as well as rpm shifts at altitude... I am finding more that I need to tweak for the cold starts and winter temps than for the altitude.. .

Hopefully will get more insight when Bill is out for Truck fest this summer in CO
