Phoenix Switch-On-The-Fly Chip (DISCOUNTINUED) (Disabled)
Power Hungry no longer sells the Phoenix/TS chip, but if you need custom tuning we can recommend a few really good tuners that will be able to still provide tuning and support for your chip.

If you have any other questions or comments about the Phoenix/TS chip, please post it here.

Default Phoenix Chip in My Van

I have a 1999 Ford E350 with a 7.3 PS

So I ordered and installed this chip in my van and it really woke it up. I have had it in there about a month and have not really stomped on the right pedal as I do not want to break anything. I gave her about 1/2-3/4 pedal and blew some overboost codes and got a P0601

P0601 - Internal Control Module Memory Checksum Error

I cleared all of the codes and this one come back only when the chip is installed in the van. When I take it out there is no code.

I have also noticed that the throttle response has changed since the original install of the chip. The van also seems to downshift at slow speeds.

I have
25 hp tow
45 tow
65 tow
65 dd
80 per
100 race

Any ideas of what may be going on?

Thanks for any input and I really like the 6 position Chip

The overboost codes are going to stay. The van tuning definitions aren't as complete as the trucks simply due to the popularity (or unpopularity rather) of the E-series. If the code bothers you that much, you will have to install a "boost fooler" of some sort.

Anyway, don't worry about the P0601. It's no problem.

As for the "throttle" response and downshifting, the tuning on the chip doesn't change over time. The ONLY way the tuning can change is if it's done with the appropriate programmer and software. Something changed with the van.

Yep there is no rest for the weary but I hope you enjoyed your time.

OK then something changed with the van. I noticed today that the tranny would "buck or chatter" a little bit when not alot of load on it and in cruise control. Fluid is not low or burnt so what could be wrong with the van?

Valve body? don't know but this sucker is about to tow a trailer with 4 bikes to sturgis for bike week.

Thank you for the response.

Hoat
I didn't get a week off.....

I'm at a loss for what could be going on since the initial install didn't conjure up any problems. I have never attempted to remotely diagnose things because internet forums are a breeding ground for misdiagnosis and "parts tossing". I won't be a part of that.
