Phoenix Switch-On-The-Fly Chip (DISCOUNTINUED) (Disabled)
Power Hungry no longer sells the Phoenix/TS chip, but if you need custom tuning we can recommend a few really good tuners that will be able to still provide tuning and support for your chip.

If you have any other questions or comments about the Phoenix/TS chip, please post it here.

Daily Driver shifting?

How do you guys and gals like the shift points on your D.D. tune? When my transmission shifts into 3rd gear it goes right into t.c. lockup, the rest of the shift points are normal.Try as I may I just can't get to like it. I also have the stock setting, 25 tow and 40 tow, they all shift just super. I am really happy the way my tow tunes pull my 12,500# RV, no problems with the egt's, the engine pull nice and quiet compared to my other chip from a different tuner. To sum it all up, Bill did a fantastic as usual, I know he will get the shifting to my liking on the D.D. tune, I just would like your input on your D.D. tune. I am going to call him this coming week and work something out, maybe go with the performance tune instead of the D.D.
Thanks, Don

What year is your truck and what was your PCM code before you installed the Phoenix?

Shift timing can be a bear because everyone's tastes are different, but since it's only one shift accompanied by the TCC apply, it won't be a big deal to fix. Depending on what Bill has done it can be fixed pretty easily in a few different ways.

With the 99.5-03 trucks my new best friend has become "Delay converter lock after 2-3".

Cleatus12r, thanks for the quick reply. My truck is a 2003 F350 dually with 410 gears, the PCM is coded VDH5 but is was reflashed by a different tuner, I don't know what the original code was but is has always worked ok. I still have the original PCM that came with truck packed away. Hope this will help.

It's going to be a simple change of either a shift speed point or torque converter clutch apply speed.

The reason I wanted to know the PCM code was due to how the shift strategy is with a stock PCM. Ford did a lot of things with their seemingly endless array of box codes and every HEX code Ford programmed had something changed (they considered them upgrades but that is questionable depending on who you ask).

Good luck! I'll point Bill towards your concern and when he has a second I'm sure he'll be happy to address it.

Thank's for all your help and concern about my shift point! I was going to call Bill this week but put it off until next week, but I now see Bill has his hands full at the present time. I can wait until the first part of December to call him, that won't be a problem for me I can still drive the truck, just need to get that tune tweaked sometime later when Bill gets caught up and is running with a full staff.
Thank's again: Don

I wonder if that 2-3 TC delay would fix that weird shift I had way back when. Humm had not thought about that.. but that delay is a constant right? Regardless of load or APP etc.
