Transmission temp not reading
Just installed the gryphon for my 99 ford f250 7.3 diesel. Not reading transmission temp, is that something I need to get another probe for?
Thanks travis |

I looked at the website:Power Hungry Performance - Gryphon Dash Mount Programmer for 7.3L Power Stroke Diesels
It says in the read out section its supposed to read it but there might be a cut off in years though.

After further research you are supposed to get TFT readings.
Hopefully Cody can answer if it could be a faulty sensor.

Jeremy might know too!
But sadly, 88 and I don't have a clue. This might be a good thing for you though, if your sensor is indeed faulty. I suspect Ford installs them for a reason and if so, they should be operational. - Jack

The PCM does look for transmission fluid temperature to assist in torque converter clutch apply rates, shift scheduling, etc.
I have run into certain trucks that do not support TFT in the data stream (on a scanner) so that may be an issue with your Gryphon.

I don't suppose you know if the PCM does this for gassers too? Makes sense that it might, and it would justify the sensor being there - otherwise, why have it? Maybe Bill will have some idea if the OP's truck supports this when he gets back, if Jeremy doesn't know. - Jack |
