Default Questions before purchasing the Gryphon

I want to get the Gryphon right away.
I am assuming I am running lean since I have a CAI on my 04 f150 5.4L
I am told I will need a custom tune for this.
But anyway, will I be ok running it with the Gryphon until a custom tune comes in? It takes 4-6 weeks afterall.

And my other question.
Can I order just the stock tunes for now on the Gryphon, and then later get some custom tunes, need an 87 economy tune and 87 performance tune, with them still being only 30 bucks each. Or is that price for only a new order on the Gryphon. So, if I get the Gryphon with no customs, and then later decided to get a custom, the price will probably be around 60 bucks per custom.

I only have CAI and exhuast ATM. No plans on upgrading anything else until the end of the year.

It's my understanding that to get the $30 price, you have to pay for the tunes when you order your Gryphon. You CAN always get a Gryphon with the canned tunes on it though. But, because you have the CAI, you should really have custom tunes (you don't need three, just the one you use for daily driving would be fine).

The recommendation is to use the Level 2 tow tune until you get a custom tune (since it's richer) and to try to keep your foot out of it (don't do Wide Open Throttle runs).

Thanks for the info. I understand that.

Is it possible to get an economy tune? Or is that what the tow tune is for?

Because I do not see that as an option.

It is certainly possible to get an "economy" tune. It's what I have loaded into my Level 1 position. In general, it's just a non-towing performance tune with somewhat altered part throttle shift points and MAYBE a slightly changed "fuel map".

All you have to do is say that you want an "economy tune" in the remarks section of the order form and Bill will write it that way.

The tow tune is designed for pulling loads greater than 2500#. It is different than an economy non-towing tune.

Alright.
I guess I had more questions than I thought.
What do I put down for my exhaust diameter?
I have Borla split rear
it comes into the muffler at 3
and when it splits into 2, it goes to 2.25

I am not any kind of authority on exhausts. I suspect the 3" figure would be the correct value though, because it's a "choke point" (the narrowest part in the new exhaust). You're not going to get anything through the 2-2.25" pipes that doesn't go through the single 3" section first.

88Racing is more knowledgeable about exhausts though. He might notice this thread and chime in.
