I doubt there's an easy answer, and if there is, I doubt Bill would want to share "The Colonel's Recipe". He IS in the business of trying to make a living by improving the way people's trucks run after all. If the recipe gets out, what does he do to feed his family?

But, I'm pretty sure there's no simple answer to your question. I suspect the timing has been adjusted across the entire RPM/load envelope to safely optimize the way the powertrain performs in accordance with the customers needs/goals.

Is that answer clear enough?

I can tell you at least one degree. (.5 advancement for every 1 octane increase)

Also note that this is for spark advancement, not the actual timing belt advancement.
