Default TSS and OSS

I know that if the TSS and OSS are not the same number than there is slippage. Is slippage really bad? If its normal than what difference between the two is normal?

Slippage means the clutches in your tranny are getting worn out.

OSS stands for Output Shaft Speed (from the engine) and TSS stands for Transmission Shaft Speed (from the tranny). Most of the time these two numbers will not match up. The only time where the two will match up is in 3rd gear with the torque converter locked. 3rd gear is a 1:1 ratio from the engine through the transmission but will not match up without the TC being locked. To make this happen you can just hit the O/D off button and drive fast enough for it to lock. The numbers may vary in the one's place but that is from slight lags in reading times.

To add to Longshot's post - I think the information in the Edge/Gryphon manual is somewhat misleading here. To emphasize a point he made, the TSS and OSS will rarely match. But, if you are in 3rd with the Torque Converter locked and they don't match then, you have a problem.
