Default Speedo correction ability?

I am wanting to get the FU but am wondering if there is the ability to correct the speedo for my 37" tires?

Ok I was just reading the FAQ's page and it says the tune can be adjusted some for tire size. What is the most it can be adjusted? I am currently running a super chips flash pac and can adjust for the 37's and have the speedo read correct. I am really wanting to order an FU, this is the only thing holding me up!!

yes and no... there are actually 2 settings that control reported vehicle speed. The ABS computer controls the display of speed on the odometer but does not correct for transmission shift points, The latter is set via tuning in the pcm in a paremeter based on revolutions per mile which is corrected via tuning for the FU chips.... The PCM tuning doesnt usually correct the odometer and speedometer display. but on some it will sometimes but so far there is no way to tell if it will ... You can use Auto Enginuity to correct the speedometer display via the ABS computer. But as I discovered the number of times the ABS can reflash that info is limited... lucky a buddy gave me an extra ABS module which I will swap out at some point

On the 7.3L (and subsequently, the 6.0L) we can usually compensate for any combination of tires and gears buy modifying the tone ring counts and tire revs per mile. It's a bit tricky as it requires a little fudge work on the math, but it usually works out okay.

We can make adjustments in the tuning to handle shifting concerns, but do not have the capability of correcting the speedometer as that handled via ABS... as Southpaw indicated. So unless you've already adjusted the ABS to correct your speedo, there's really not much we can do about it other than fix the shifting.

Take care.

Can I then use my superchip flash pac to only change the speedo and use the FU for tuning then?

On the FU order form it ask for tire size. Is that so you can adjust shift points accordingly or would that only be on the FU2 custom made tunes?

I can fix that on your FU or Phoenix order....just be sure to put down what your tire size is.
