3.55's and anything larger than stock aren't much of a combination for anyone unless you're running 80 MPH down the highway for hundreds of miles at a time. The biggest problem is simply the weight of the tire and wheel combo. It takes so much more power to get them moving that stop & go traffic is just brutal on economy. At least with highway driving, you don't have to continually try to accelerate the wheels... just maintain momentum.
For what it's worth, on most applications changing from stock to 35" tires usually requires 1 step lower gear (ie. 3.55 -> 3.73, 3.73 -> 4.10, or 4.10 to 4.56) to maintain roughly the same RPM/MPH ratio. Take care.
