One of the first full engine swaps I ever did was a mildly built 289 4bbl & C4 into a 65 Mustang that had a 250 & 3spd. For anyone that has ever done a swap in a Mustang, you can understand my surprise when the engine wouldn't fit with the headers on it!
![]() Outside of those few snags, everything else went super smoothly. Scammed a factory automatic shifter out of an old junker for the trans and we were good to go. The Christening drive was about 2 in the morning with the headers still open. Made a LOT of "friends" that night, but fortunately it was a Saturday. :o It's interesting to me just how light those little pony cars are. It takes nothing to blow the tires off of them! There really is an art to handling a car like that when launching so you don't end up looking into oncoming traffic. ![]() Fun days, fer sure!
