Racing Image?

I understand that the 'standard image' is the pic that we refer to as the splash screen. What is this 'racing image' that is below it?

Also has anyone been able to make some good side profile gryphons? I haven't come up with anything worth using yet. Did do some neat copy pastes from google though. These are mostly in the draft stage, still playing around with them when I have free time.
