Shift firmness seems weak with custom tunes..
Okay well I've had my custom tunes for a bit now. And when I really get on the gas, it just doesn't shift hard. And when I say hard, I'm comparing that to the canned tunes before.
Stock shift being a 0 and the canned tunes shift being a 10. The custom tunes shift seems like a hiccup, maybe a 4? maybe 5. This is when I step on it. I do want my truck to last, the tranny and all. But it seems very weak. I know the harder it shifts the less slippage, but if you go to hard it can cause problems which I do not want. The canned tunes would chirp my belt and throw me back in my seat. Custom tunes don't. JackandJanet has suggested a few things. Like adjusting the firmness up to my liking. But I'm still intimidated to fool around since I haven't had the best of luck. It's weak on both 87 tow and 87 perf. Not sure if they are suppose to be different. So, do I have you (Bill) make them firmer, or do I go and up the firmness or will that mess up the custom tunes? PS. This will sound silly. I do not think it makes a difference at all, just power loss. But with the canned tunes I had a muffler, and well now I don't. And I got my custom tunes AFTER I went straight pipe, this shouldn't affect how hard it shifts correct? I lost backpressure, so I lose some lowend, not weak shift correct? PSS. I just got done talking with a buddy and he asked me about my ECU getting locked up. I've driven my truck 3 times since then? I've driven it somewhat hard, should I give it more time to learn my driving habits? Or if my shift firmness is weak now, it will still be weak? Thanks. I appreciate any help. |
