Default Torque Management?

Last week I had a set of 4.30 gears installed in my truck. Sadly, performance gains were not nearly what I had expected. I thought that going from a 3.55 ratio to 4.30's would be a game changer, but it really hasn't. 0-60 times are JUST better than stock. 7.9 was the best I could manage yesterday, 3.55's were like 8.5ish.

I've also noticed that there is a hesitation feeling when I'm taking off. Kind of like losing traction, but not. Someone suggested that torque management could be to blame. It doesn't feel like the tranny is slipping, RPM's are steady through the gear. I'm also using an 87 performance tune built from early this year. The only changes since then is the gears and the H-pipe was swapped to an X-pipe. Could the old tune be specifically catered to that gear ratio and not be playing well with the new ratio?

PS: Shift firmness felt stock so I bumped it up to +10 +10 +8. Any risks?
