It's just a designation that will be printed on the pipe itself. I THINK it relates to pressure and possibly temperature capacities. It has fairly thick walls, which you need for rigidity. The SCH 80 electrical conduit seems to be identical in wall thickness.
There's another white pipe "SCH" designation that is quite thin-walled. I think it's for waste (drain) pipe only. Stay away from that. - Jack
