"module not formatted" error
Hey guys,
I'm having issues. I have the drivers installed, the burner set up, I plugged everything in in the order required, opened Phoenix flash, set the module to position 1, set how many positions I wanted to program, and clicked erase. I got a popup that said "make sure it's in pos 1", I double check, and clicked Ok It said "Error: module not formatted" :sniffle: I then thought, well, it's probably already blank, so I attempted to program it, and after selecting the file, I went through the same popup and error message... any help? please? thanks, Dan

Dan,
In the lower right corner of the software, what are the PID and CID numbers? They need to match. Let me know or I'll give you a call shortly.

I'm at work right now, and I don't remember the answer. I'll have a break in 15 min or so, and i'll let you know what they are.

This looks to be the best place to put this......
I can't bear to even THINK this, but Bill, I want to buy a new burner. I am absolutely certain that my POS burner is destroying my chips. Yes, it is a Sniper burner, but it's the same burner that you use. I'm tired of sending chips back to my vendor that don't seem to have any issues once he gets them. Here's the scenario: I've sent numerous chips back to my vendor that had problems with my current setup. The first few would exhibit a "double key up" requirement.....didn't work right for me, worked flawlessly for my vendor. The last two that I had issues with won't erase, won't program, won't wake up at all. I sent one back and of course, it worked just fine for him. Now I've got another that is doing the exact same thing. Both of these chips worked PERFECTLY for months before I took them out to erase them. As soon as I put the chip in the burner, hooked up the power/USB and attempted to erase......nothing. "Module not formatted". "Be sure switch is in position number one." Blah, blah. I'm pissed to say the least. Before the thought crosses your mind, yes, all precautionary steps were taken....as they always are. I have had nothing but weird problems with chips and this burner......"double key up" requirements, not working at all, and my computer not recognizing that the burner is hooked up ("Unable to find burner" message) more often than not. You may also remember that I had a relay "blow up" in the burner.....and no one had ever heard of such nonsense. Monday I attempted to do a little "guesswork" tuning on a VDH2 truck (guesswork since I don't have the VDH2 definitions yet...) and put my last chip on the burner to throw a few tunes on it. No go. Chip is DEAD. I hadn't done anything with it since taking it out of another truck a few days ago. It worked absolutely flawlessly until that point. I had to leave the scene and cool off.....I didn't want to lose my cool in front of the customer. To be quite honest, I was about ready to do a massive burnout over the burner and break the chip in half, start it on fire, and do a morbid ceremonial burial of the whole works. I am afraid to even try to burn anything to this new chip I got last week......I refuse to waste any more time HOPING that the thing will work. All tuning is on hold until I get a RELIABLE burner and chips. Since the burner I have has been repaired (it worked good for a couple of months after the relay replacement), I'm sure it's not a warranty issue anymore. I am/have been ready to tune for a year now....and have had more holdups than the local 7/11. Let me know how much for a burner and a couple of your "BC" chips. Thanks.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea....
I have zero issues with my Sniper vendor. He's been awesome and very cooperative with all of the BS that I've been through. I was sitting here with my wife watching a movie and got to thinking about how bad my previous post may have sounded.
