First Custom Tune
Just got my first custom tune this morning - this is probably a dumb question.
I have an '08 F150 and edge evo, i ordered a custom 87, tow tune. I hooked it up to pegasus this morning and pegasus said it had a successful download. I then put it back in the truck, hooked it up, set it to level 2 'tow'. The whole process seemed visually identical to the stock tune - so my question is...is there any indicator from the programmer in the truck that the custom tune took? or do i just assume all went well? thanks, 08F150_FX2 |

You should see a PHP splash screen on the programmer now when it boots on your truck.
And, unless things have changed, this advice applies: In the main menu on the monochrome Gryphon, select [Diagnostics] -> [Tech Support] -> [Version Info]. (You can ignore the warning message that will come up). In the newer Gryphons, 04+, the "Calibration Version" should look like "0.x.xxxx" where the last 4 x's are (usually) the same as the Serial Number. If the Version number DOES begin with zero ("0"), you have custom tuned files. If the Version begins with one ("1") though, so it looks like "1.x.xxxx", then the unit has canned tunes, not custom. The programming of your PCM with custom tunes should not seem different than things were when you had canned tunes. - Jack
