The Conversation Pit This is where EVERYTHING else goes. No subject is too mundane. How's the weather in your area? Did your kid cut his first tooth? Really, what do you think about the President? And don't get me started on Cummins and Duramaxes. Have at it! |

Summer Toy
Picked up this 09 Rhino 700 last week......
Got about 100 miles on it and I started to notice a engine noise. I dropped the oil out of it and cut the oil filter open....and sure enough....metal flakes packed into the filter media. In classic 907DAVE fashion.....motor is coming out. How's that for luck.....and the timing could not have been better. |

You get summer up there?
My sister-in-law's step dad has one of those, but it's the 450 model. He had the same thing happen to him.

No, he just got a new engine for it and gave the other one away.

Well got the motor completely torn down now and it appears to have lost a lower rod bearing. I ordered an OEM crank with a Carillo rod, machined clutch sheave and clutch kit for her. Hopefully I will have parts next weekend.
Here's a shot of it with the jug off......... While I was in there I could not resist a little bit of port and polishing on the head. I also did a bit of super-tuning on the exhaust system, should have a bit more pep when its done. |

Well I was able to get the motor finished up and the Rhino back on the trails. I am still waiting on the clutch parts, but can toss those in any time.
Here's some pics I took along the way........ |

Cool!
How much do you have invested in that as it sits? Where's the snow. I KNOW it's still winter up there.....

Bought the machine used for $9,800, came with loading ramps and another set of wheels and tires and all the accessories that are on the machine. Crank with billet rod was $400, gasket set was $100, and clutching was close to $300. Total of $10,600..........
Buuut, this is something me and the g/f can share and can be very handy around the property. The machine is pretty impressive with the low range a frond diff locker, but definitely a change from what I am used to(Raptor660R). There is still snow.........you gotta look closely. |
