Its meant to stop larger objects from getting to the filter (bugs, grass, etc). Smaller debris can still get to the filter, its just there to help eliminate those larger objects getting loged in the filter. Not a big deal on those washable filter, but I think it would be a good idea to have on these one-time filters.

hey guys just stopping into say hi. I am actually the one who makes the Zombie Intakes. I am not here to advertise. I am here just to clarify things.
my intakes are made of mandrel bent aluminum tubing, are powder coated whatever color you want, have a choice of filters, but Donaldson water resistant filter is standard, and the kit includes a CCV delete mod, these kits are complete kits. as far as what you gain. One of my customers did back to back runs on a stock 12valve cummins with an AFE intake. going from the AFE to the zombie intake he picked up 2RWHP and 7 RW torque using the optional Green Filters USA filter.
