The Conversation Pit
This is where EVERYTHING else goes. No subject is too mundane. How's the weather in your area? Did your kid cut his first tooth? Really, what do you think about the President? And don't get me started on Cummins and Duramaxes. Have at it!

Default Cold Winter Nights........

Can cause people to do some strange things. For a buddy and I, we build stuff.

Our first fascination was racing lawnmowers around the yard, which led to making our mowers faster. Eventually we had one mower with a blown engine (rod came out), another one had the front axle ripped out from under it, and another that literally shook itself to pieces.

We then decided to step it up and put a bigger engine in one. We were able to get a 540 twin out of an old Viking snow-machine, and it fit perfect. That was a blast to ride for awhile until we decided it needed to be faster. The transmission got re-geared......then after a good launch something broke inside of it.

Here's a couple pic's of how it sits now......

Our next project started with a Yamaha Banshee quad that had no engine, a wrecked Suzuki Bandit 1200 motorcycle.............and a Audi A4 turbocharger.

The first idea we had was to put the engine in the quad and make it an all around bike that was fast as hell. That was fun for awhile, but like always, it needed more power. The turbo went on shortly after, and made the bike uncontrollable in almost all situations, except when it was pointed strait. The decision was made to make it into a drag quad. The rear end was stretched around 8'', new rear sub frame, slicks and a ton of weight shaved off of it.

It was ridden a few times after all the modifications were finished, and it was ridiculous! The power that thing made at 14psi was unbelievable, and was actually difficult to hang on to it.

Once we were satisfied with it, the entire quad was disassembled and everything was sandblasted and powder-coated. Since then it has been in pieces for the past year or two, until now.

All the parts have been rounded up and dusted off, and here are a few pic's of how it sits now......

Engine all cleaned up.....

And a few parts......

Hopefully within the next few weeks it will be a complete quad again, I will post more pictures as we go.

Sweet, my brother has something similar he did with a quad frame and a Kawasaki Ninja 600 engine. I thought that was dang fast. The HP/weight ratio on yours has to be through the roof!

It will probably weigh 800lb with driver, and should be around 175 HP.

Its defiantly a workout trying to hold on to it.

Not too much progress has been made, but the motor is in.......

And the front end is taken apart, we decided to ditch the front brakes to try and lighten it up even more. I need to machine down a few parts and it can go back together.
