This is really cool.
You guys might like this one. Sure could use something like this nowadays. Whatever happened to creative ingenuity?

Holy Cow! That's fantastic, Bill! Looks to me like that setup would adapt to almost any small car. I'd love to see the inside floor plan of the trailer.
Great post! - Jack

Obviously the camper was designed to work on a VW, but any compact car of the 70's (Opel, Toyota, Datsun, etc.) would have fit quite well in that space. It's a shame that people don't seem to think outside the box like that anymore.

My father in law owned a suburban with one of these:
PullRite has a SAFER, STRONGER, BETTER designed hitch for you

Pull-Rite is an awesome setup. I've installed two of them and they're really cool and work great.

How does the trailer connect to the Pull-Rite setup?

It's got a standard 2" square receiver......
But it's got an arc-shaped track that it swings on and a pivot that is located almost right above the rear axle. It's got locking pins that go on either side of the receiver too if you don't want it to move. http://www.pullrite.com/pullrite_works.htm
