0 to 60 Acceleration on 2007 RE300 bus with DT466
Good afternoon, folks!
We recently did some acceleration tests on our new Skoolie bus, just to see where things are at and what we could accomplish with tuning. During our testing, we came to realize that our turbo actuator was bad, which resulted in extremely invalid tests due to the fact that the bus could barely make any boost. Bummer... Time to order a new turbo actuator and then wait. Well, the new turbo actuator came in today and I was like a kid on Christmas day. :biggrin: Immediately hopped on the bike and rode home with box in hand (well, backpack anyway) to get the actuator installed. All I can say is... Holy crap! After fixing turbo, we went back in and redid the tests. The numbers we generated previously are obviously way out of line, even though they did show a noticeable gain with tuning. However, the new numbers are even more impressive. Overall time gains between stock and tuned are pretty similar, but there is a sizable improvement between stock with weak turbo and tuned with working turbo! Here are the test numbers for your perusal. By the way, these come right from the 1708 communications, so I have resolution down to 0.2 seconds. Stock (225 HP Factory Calibration) 00 - 0.0 10 - 3.2 15 - 4.4 20 - 6.0 25 - 8.0 30 - 10.0 35 - 12.4 40 - 14.8 45 - 17.6 50 - 21.2 55 - 26.8 60 - 36.6 65 - 42.0 70 - 49.0 Custom (250 HP Modified Calibration) 00 - 00.0 - ( +00.0 ) 10 - 02.4 - ( +00.8 ) 15 - 03.4 - ( +01.0 ) 20 - 04.4 - ( +01.6 ) 25 - 05.8 - ( +02.2 ) 30 - 07.2 - ( +02.8 ) 35 - 09.0 - ( +03.4 ) 40 - 11.0 - ( +03.8 ) 45 - 13.0 - ( +04.6 ) 50 - 15.6 - ( +05.6 ) 55 - 18.4 - ( +08.4 ) 60 - 22.2 - ( +14.4 ) 65 - 27.2 - ( +14.8 ) 70 - 34.0 - ( +15.0 ) 75 - 39.2 - ( -N/A- ) Tests were executed on the same stretch of road, under the same conditions, about 10 minutes apart. What's hysterical is that stock with a bad turbo had a 0 to 70 time of 57.0 seconds, stock with a good turbo was 49.0 seconds, and tuned Level 4 was 34.0 seconds. That is a 25 second difference between what the bus could do when I bought it and what it can now do with it fixed and tuned! Needless to say, I'm thrilled! Now to go through the datalogs and see if there are any shortcomings or possibly any room for improvement. We'll see what we have. Anyway, these are the numbers. Enjoy!

Pretty impressive. Actually, it's depressing that these things are DANGEROUS to drive on public roadways as they come from the factory.

It's just these 22.5 wheel get a little rough over 70, what with the Ackerman axle in the front and basically no weight at this time. Once it's built out and has some weight to it, the suspension will settle. I kind of look at as a big RV at this point. And yes, 80 or 85 in this thing is completely unacceptable. On the other hand, 70 to 75 rides pretty well and it will still stop pretty quickly. (Quickly being a relative term.) It's just fascinating at how well these things run with just a little tuning.

I'm actually using ServiceMaxx with a Nexiq Interface. Gives me really good resolution data. I'm also working on getting the datalogging module working in Orion and should have that up and running soon.

That be amazing, I reached out to a few friends that do nasa racing and a few 1/4 mile folks I know but most of there data loggers are built into either the ecu or vehicle 🤷🏽*♂️ The app I am using will just have to work for now
