What engine you tuning?
Well reading through a lot of the post on here, I feel like I am one of the only ones here with the 4.6, now I'm sure that isn't the case, so I was wondering what engine everyone has? Maybe also post a 0-60 time as the Gryphon reads?
The best 0-60 I got was 7.61, I thought that was pretty good for the 4.6. |
According to Gryphon.......
I ran three consecutive one night. 1. 6.44 2. 6.73 3. 6.69 also ran 2 1/4's afterwards. 1. 15.1 @ 91 2. 15.3 @ 93 |
To Chris74...
Do you remember what you ran before your custom tunes? I don't have mine yet but I am between 7.5 and 7.7 depending on wheel spin. My choice of wheels/tires (33x12.50 20 Mud Grappler) isn't helping at all.

5.4...sadly no 0-60 or 1/4 yet...too slippery out... it's great putting it in 4by and steppin on it and going nowhere.:hehe:

.....I never tried it on the canned Gryphon tunes, but when I was running my Edge Evo on the canned level 2 (tow tune).......I believe I only ran a 7.78. This was also before my truck was truely broken in. Now that my truck is nicely broken in.........I can run that (or better) on stock tune! These trucks aren't as slow as a lot of people make them out to be! |
I haven't gotten mine yet, should be here tomorrow :woot: , but I plan on checking the difference in the times from stock to canned tunes then once my custom tunes come in checking again. Yeah, these trucks are quite a bit faster than people make them out to be. Especially when you go from a 2.3L Ranger to the 5.4L F-150 lol.

I drove the Ranger to work yesterday because the F-150 was at the shop getting an exhaust system put on (Flowmaster 40 series SI/DO), and I felt like the Ranger was working really hard to drive 60-65 mph, feels a lot different lol.

Another 4.6 guy over here.
My 0-60 is closer to 10 seconds I think ! :yikes2: :disbelief: Also on a 6" lift, and running 3.73 gears, true 35" tires load range E (heavy SOB's !) 18" rims, and no real power mods yet. Too many other projects going on right now. If its dry when I get home, might hop in the truck to see what I can get. Been awhile. |
5.4 in mine and did a 0-60 run got a 8.6X with 35's and 3.73 gearing yet the tire size was set at 23XX which is wrong so it should be better.
|
What altitude are you guys at? I'm at 5000 feet and I could only muster a 9.04 sec 0-60 time out of mine with my current mods. :cry-blow: I need some custom tunes pretty bad, but then again I only have 5200 miles on mine right now. Will it be substantially better once I get near the 15k, 20k mark?
|
I never checked my 0-60 or 1/4 times. Perhaps when I get my programmer back I'll try a few runs on stock, and one of the performance tunes. Just have to think of where I can get some open road...requires a little drive to the farm lands to get away from traffic.
|
BlackSTX, if you get me some 0-60 times I woudl surely appreciate it or anyone else for that matter. Mine seems really slow, even for a stocker that seems pretty slow, so I am curious what others are running. Thanks:thumbs up yellow:
|
Just 2 more days and I can finally place my order for the Gryphon. Seriously can't wait.
|
Best 0-60 as of right now is 9.12 on Gryphon stock level 2 but I can't find a place to do it without getting major wheel spin which makes my foot let up a bit without me thinking. :evillol:
Once I get as much of this 87 octane out I'll be filling it up with 94 and setting it to level 3... then I might have to buy some new tires... :whistle1: Oh and the belt chirp is awesome at wot when shifting. I have never owned a vehicle that was as fast as this thing is now. I forgot I had a V8 under the hood. I used to have a 1976 Chev C20 with a 350 and my little 281 Windsor out does it hands down now. :2thumbs: |
I checked mine, I am getting 7.63 for my 0-60. Im running a custom level 2 and have 33" Load range E. Does anyone know how to convert your tire size to the (mm) on the gryphon? When I do my conversion of 33" to mm I get 838.2mm. Something that I am missing?

If at all possible, use the manufacturers website to determine the "Rev per Mile" rating of the tire. Then to convert to millimeters, use this formula...
1609344 / Rev per Mile = Tire Circumference in mm That helps eliminate any guesswork. :D |
4.6 here. Haven't yet tested the 0-60.
|
Embarrassing!
Gotts mod, performance air filter, Magnaflow performance exhaust, Custom tuned Gryphon CS(87 Performance). 12.3 second 0-60. Sad |
Ouch! Are you sure your tire size is correct? That seems VERY slow even for the smaller 4.6 Triton. Idk, but it my '97 F150 ran low 8's with just dual exhaust, K&N air filter, and B&M shift kit. My truck I have now was running 7.56 0-60 before the latest mods and tuning. Haven't been able to test it out with the new custom tuning, efans, gears because of coil pack issues. But soon, very soon. I just hope I am not disappointed after all the $$$ put into it.

What engine you tuning?
I have tried mine again, with my CAI and custom tunes on performance 87 tune the best I have gotten is 9.3sec for 0-100 km/h I have the 2006 5.4l, super crew, 3.55 rear end, 275/65R18.
This seems slow to me now after seeing this thread. What do you guys think?? |
