EXTERNAL MEMORY REFLASH?

Plugged my gryphon in today and it told me the external memory needs to be reflashed. What does that mean....What happened? My truck has not been reflashed nor has it even been into the shop. I was still able to drive my truck using the last saved tune i'm guessing...I dont run the gryphon plugged in all the time so i am not sure if I may have screwed somthing up through pegasus....the last thing I did was change the splash screen. I do not recall if it worked after that....it has been a while since i plugged it in. Any thoughts?:hmmm:

I've never seen this!

So, you changed the splash screen while the truck was still "tuned" above stock? That should not have hurt anything as far as I know.

Once you get past that message, does the Gryphon seem to function normally? Or, does it keep you from getting past that message? AND, we're talking about the monochrome Gryphon and not the CS/CTS version, right?

If it's the monochrome Gryphon, did you have the ignition key ON before you plugged the Gryphon in?

Yes it is the original Gryphon. It wont let me past the message and the key position is as it should be for start up.

Kirt,

Bill is working his tail off right now getting through support issues and service tickets. It may be a little bit, but he IS getting things taken care of.

Corey e-mailed me saying that pegasus had a bug and was fixed yesterday...I updated as suggested and the problem still exists.:help:

So, your version of Pegasus is: V2.02.0856?

Here, we may have a problem. If you did not put your truck back to stock before all this happened, I don't think you're going to be able to repair the damage through Pegasus without some "hands on" help from Bill.

There is something corrupt in the software/firmware in your Gryphon itself, and, Pegasus will not alter it unless your truck, and the Gryphon, are at stock. I THINK, Bill is going to have to load a "stock writer" tune into the Gryphon for you to proceed.

Please submit a "trouble ticket".

Edit: I guess there is a lesson to be learned here - Even if you are just updating the splash screens, anytime you connect the Gryphon to Pegasus for the purpose of changing something, it would be prudent to have set the truck's tune back to stock first. Notice I'm talking about activities that "change" the Gryphon here. I'm not including things like a "file" or "data stream" download that do not alter the Gryphon's contents.

And please, KIRT, I'm not saying you did something bad. I would not have thought changing the splash screen would cause difficulties. The good news, of course, is that your truck still runs.

It's the "Online Support System" page on their website: Support Login Most people get a pretty speedy response when they use this approach. If you don't, PM me.

Thanks for the info...I was told by Corey via e-mail that Bill would be calling me today to resolve the problem. I will wait and see if that pans out first.:thumbs up yellow:

Mine did this this week also. I re-installed my tunes and ran updates in Pegasus and it fixed it.

I think your situation might have been different. I suspect your programmer was at stock. KIRT's isn't.

Where have I suggested that before.....:hmmm:

Well over a month and still waiting for a fix. My patience is wearing thin. Going to be doing some towing soon....sure would be nice to switch to custom tow and be able to monitor my temps. I understand that PHP may be extremely busy but I have not even received a courtesy call. Is this kind of service going to be the norm? I am seriously thinking of having my truck reflashed at the dealer and going someplace else for custom performance tunes.... anyone interested in buying a gryphon. :thumbsdwn:

KIRT Wed, March 2nd, 2011 09:01 PM

Huh....seems like no one is listening.

KIRT Thu, March 3rd, 2011 09:20 PM

Can anybody confirm these are being posted...starting to feel like I am invisible. Please help...moderators? Anybody?:sigh:

KIRT Thu, March 3rd, 2011 09:36 PM

Just sent another e-mail to Cory....we'll see. I still have hope.

Power Hungry Fri, March 4th, 2011 01:04 PM

Before I can reset the device, we'll need to accomplish two things:

1) We'll need a copy of the original files from the device so we can restore the ECM back to stock. To do this, connect to Pegasus, go to [Utilities] and then select [Read Critical Files]. This will send your original VID and stock file to our server.

2) Once the stock file has been received, we can build a recovery file to restore your ECM back to stock and then reload your custom tunes.

This procedure is something we generally prefer to do over the phone so everything can be handled at one time. Feel free to e-mail me with a number and time that would be convenient to proceed.

On a side note... Corey handles billing questions and can often handle or redirect support questions. She had, unfortunately, been out of the office quite a bit and there are sometimes delays with responses to e-mails. If you need support you can e-mail either bill or cody at phptune.com and we can help resolve any issues.

Thanks.

Kirt, I hope you're monitoring this thread. I've been out of town (out of the Country) and am trying to get caught up. Please do as Bill says.

KIRT Fri, March 4th, 2011 09:18 PM

On the phone with Bill as we speak....should be up soon:cool:

KIRT Fri, March 4th, 2011 10:11 PM

Bill solved the problem. Gryphon is back on the straight and narrow...the truck runs like a champ. The problem was an easy fix for Bill. Seems like there was a break down in communication from the beginning....Cory was my first contact and I understand she has been having some health issues and has been in and out of the office(completely understandable). Thank you Bill for helping me out. Cory, I hope you feel better soon and I will be praying for you and your doctors. :thumbs up yellow:
