Thoughts on a Zombie intake?

I found this, forgot where, but I thought I would get everyone's opinion on it.

It seem to me to be a good deal, and the powdercoating is nice, but worth getting? I don't know.

Looks like every other "filter-on-a-tube" out there.

Someone selling a commonly-made (and easy to make) intake.

It's not going to help anything unless your factory intake box is letting dirt pass through the lid joint.

Thanks, I need to replace my air filter sometime soonish, it is getting dirty, so I am looking at options, I think I will just go with a stock filter.

Be sure to get the Motorcraft filter from Ford. The WIX (NAPA/CARQUEST) filters do not seal between the lid and lower section of the airbox. As a matter of fact, if you want my "DIY 6637" intake, I'll just send it to you. It needs a new filter, but you can have it if you want it. It's simply a piece of 4" exhaust pipe.....

I don't think I can say no to that... I don't really have an address yet, well not until the 24th of january, so it is hard to get anything in the mail. Ill send you my new address as soon as I have it. Thanks! :D, and how much are the filters to replace?

I don't know how much the filters cost a lay-person....

I get them for cost through NAPA (it's not who you are, it's who you know) and I think I pay $38 each.....but they tend to last longer than the regular box filters because of the surface area. The only thing that I need you to make sure of is that your intake system currently looks like this (not mine, it's too dirty) ;) :

Here's where I get my 6637 filter... $29 list price plus shipping.

cleatus12r Fri, January 13th, 2012 01:07 PM

You can do that too!

yup, mine looks exactly like that, I just got 2 new batteries, motorcraft, thanks dave, and I took that plastic cover off so it really looks exactly the same. as soon as I have a good address to ship to I will get the filter and have you ship that to me. Thanks a bunch! :D

Should I worry about getting a cover for it? IDK what they would do, but I am in texas so it might get dusty sometimes...

Its meant to stop larger objects from getting to the filter (bugs, grass, etc). Smaller debris can still get to the filter, its just there to help eliminate those larger objects getting loged in the filter. Not a big deal on those washable filter, but I think it would be a good idea to have on these one-time filters.

hey guys just stopping into say hi. I am actually the one who makes the Zombie Intakes. I am not here to advertise. I am here just to clarify things.

my intakes are made of mandrel bent aluminum tubing, are powder coated whatever color you want, have a choice of filters, but Donaldson water resistant filter is standard, and the kit includes a CCV delete mod, these kits are complete kits.

as far as what you gain. One of my customers did back to back runs on a stock 12valve cummins with an AFE intake. going from the AFE to the zombie intake he picked up 2RWHP and 7 RW torque using the optional Green Filters USA filter.
