93 perf ???

Just wondering if there was anything I needed to know before filling up with 93 and running the 93 perf canned tune?

Thanks Jordan

Not too much except you need to make sure your tank is really close to empty.

But, I'm sort of in the dark here and I wish Bill or Corey would enlighten me. Is the Level 3 canned tune a 93 octane tune or, is it the 91+ octane tune that the manual describes? If it's a 91+ octane tune, you could probably advance the timing by +1 degree if you fill with 93 octane.

Good reply Jack!
Good question about the perf canned tune. That is a little fuzzy sometimes.

If wanting to go level 3 canned tune.
To run 93oct either get the tank to really empty or do 2 fill ups of 93oct.
Then program level 3 and advance timing +1.

Heres my thought on this...why not buy octane booster and change to level 3 right away ?

Its not going to do any harm. But how would you calculate: how much? Right brand? What kind?
I would just be patient and use the other octane up.

Just a note:

I don't agree or disagree with the use of octane boosters.

From time to time I DO have to use them in my motor cycle due to the rural area I live in and the lack of gas stations selling premium(91-93oct). But the only octane booster I use is certified by my motor cycle's mfgr.

I'll add to the octane booster discussion: I've read numerous (what I think are "impartial") opinions on them from a variety of sources and every one says the effect of a full bottle of even the best of them boosts the octane rating by no more than 1 point. And, at least one source stated that they hurt your gas mileage in the bargain.

Since a bike's tank is so small, you can probably get an effective concentration level of the booster in the gas to do some good, but the advice I've always read for cars and trucks is to save your money.

Hmmm ok, I can see the logic. I thought of that as well and it probably wouldnt matter what the octane level as long as it were at least 93 (in this case)...Just make sure you have enough in the tank for the amount in it...Prob doesnt quite matter as much for those of you livin way down south that dont have to pay well over 100 bucks to fill up.
