Need Help

First off want to say great site, very helpful. Got some quick questions before I place my order!! Now i will be purchasing the gryphon with 3 custom tunes "maybe". First off what will I need to send to bill or corey just the hex code after I get the gryphon so they can start to work on my custom tunes? Next question is for the actual custom tunes. On the order form it only has 89 Tow 89 Performance. I however want a 89 performance, 89 Heavier tow, and 89 Econonmy/Daily Driver. Now what woudl be the best way to go about informing them of that 3rd tuen since there is no option for it on the order form.

Unless you have really different needs between 89 Performance and 89 Economy/Daily Driver - I'd combine them. What are you expecting from a "Performance" tune, that's different from the "Econoomy?Daily Driver" tune. And, are you likely to switch tunes enough to make these choices worthwhile?

By all means, get a "custom" tow tune for what YOU tow.

Yes, they need your HEX code and any other information that might help create the perfect set of tunes for you. What are your goals? Passing performance, burn rubber off a standing start, good gas mileage....? Where do you live? What kind of driving do you do? City, highway, combined? And so on.

Okay thanks for the quick reply! First off besides the hex code, what else do they need to be sent in order to start making my custom tunes? Do you mean a list of modifications? Also, I guess I do a lot of city driving now going back to college with a combination of the occasional 1 1/2 hour highway drive. I live in Northern Iowa. I guess what I want out of my performance tune is to go fast haha no but be more quicker not so much delay in responce when trying to pass. I guess if the performance tuen can give me 2-3 mpgs where as a daily driver can only give me 2-3 then I guess the only two custom tunes would need to ordered. Am i kinda getting this understood?

First off on the tunes.
The economy-daily driver can be combined with both those tunes you want. Like Jack said.
Put all your info on the order form. Like elevations you drive. Tire size. Comuter. Gears. Areas you drive. Hilly, flat. That's just some to give you some ideas.

Request max tow for the truck on the order form also for the 89 tow tune.

I personally would keep the canned perf tune(level3).

MPG's gains all depend on how "you" drive.

Good luck!

Be safe!

Okay Thanks guys.. I'll be sure to put that down. I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. I think i will just be getting 2 custom tunes and leave the level 3 or 93 performance on there just incase some day i decide to have a lot of fun. Now when I choose my custom tunes, I am going to select 89 custom performance, now should i write down I would like that to also be my daily driver/economy tune. Also when I select 89 custom tow, i should put down max tow?

There's a place for remarks on the form, add the fact that you're going to use the 89 Perf tune as a daily driver and would like it to be as economical as is reasonably possible.

For your 89 tow tune, simply tell Bill your trailer's weight when you tow it, and, if you have additional weight in the bed of your truck. I'd give the speed you maintain when you're towing and you might add the "frontal area" of the trailer (height x width) since that's what produces wind resistance, adding considerably to the towing load on the transmission and engine.

He won't actually start working on your tunes when he receives your HEX code. It just gets you into the queue, ready to go. Your tunes are written in the order specified by your invoice number. So, when your invoice number comes up, if all the other information is in place (such as your HEX code), he will start writing your tunes and will probably finish them that day. If your code is missing, you go into a "waiting for code pile".

When you get your Gryphon, PM Corey with your HEX code. Also, fill out ALL the details in your UserCP - it will include your HEX code too. This should put you right into the queue with no delay at all.

Make sure your new tires/rims are included in your order - that way Bill can set your Tire Size.

For what it's worth, we're back on 2 week turns now for custom tunes. Maybe faster, depending on workload. I just finished the last of the backorders on customs this morning. :D
