Limp Mode ?

I got my chip in last and installed it , everything was working good. Then this morning on my way to work i pulled up at a red light and switched it from 80 performance tune to lope idle and the service engine light came on and i had no throttle at all. so i pulled into my work , and shut it off and restarted it and everything seemed fine. what could have caused that and will it happen again. thanks for any info

Did the chip wiggle loose?

Contacts clean?

Just to be clear on this....

The 7.3L does not have a "limp mode".

What you experienced was a PCM reset and the dead accelerator pedal was due to the PCM not recognizing the idle validation switch signal. You didn't hurt anything but why it happened is unknown at this time. I would verify the chip mounting to the PCM but that shouldn't cause the issue you described. It may have been a fluke, a switch problem, or a calibration mix-up. I take it that the chip has worked flawlessly up until that point.

One of the reasons we recommend that you remove your foot from the throttle is to help avoid a dead-pedal situation in the unlikely event of a reboot when switching. If it happens again (or consistently) then it might be a calibration issue with a particular tune and we'll need to get it corrected. Let us know if it happens again.
