Standard tunes...what to expect

I am still ready to send my old TS chip for new PHP tunes.
What can I expect other than a GRIN?

Shift points: What to expect? Raised RPM shifts? Converter lockup changed? Downshifts on deceleration? I asked this question a while back, but really didn't get what I was after. Of course, if I don't want something I am sure Bill would change it for me.

RPM and top speed limiter: Are these adjusted as well?

I really like STOCK shift points, but just firmer or rather more positive without slamming.

Thanks for everybody's help.

Also, I think I have a bad switch, can Bill check it out for me? AND what is the order time looking like now...I'm in no big hurry as I am running a chip now and this one is sitting in my tool box waiting for an update....and I see no reason why it shouldn't be loaded with new tunes from the folks at PHP..

Looking back at your old thread, you have a 2002 with BTS valve body. I think Cody answered your question pretty good at the time. He might be able to chime in with more information now that he knows what your looking for. I'll repost it incase you haven't looked back.

Depending on your current PCM code, you may get set up with a PMT1/your file hybrid strategy. PMT1 would be to take care of the shifting, it seems as a general consensus that it is the best factory shifting strategy. I wish I could have more input but I'm primarily a manual slosh-box driver.

What can I expect other than a GRIN?
  • Linear accelerator pedal feel which means an appropriate amount of power for any given amount of pedal input.
  • Smooth, crisp shifts.
  • Fantastic driveability.
  • Optimized shift points for bog-free acceleration.

Of course, if I don't want something I am sure Bill would change it for me. The torque converter clutch strategy will be changed to PMT1 so that you get great 2nd gear TCC apply when you need it, instant 4-3 downshift tcc re-apply so you're not wasting power during an acceleration event (passing), and a 4-3 downshift at about 35 MPH that retains TCC apply for some engine braking.

RPM and top speed limiter: Are these adjusted as well? Elimitated top speed limiter and higher RPM operation (up to about 3500 RPM).

I really like STOCK shift points, but just firmer or rather more positive without slamming. Most programs are going to retain a near-stock shift strategy but the shifts will be firmed up a bit.

We can also check out the switch for you as well.

See replies in RED. Hope this clears a few things up!

Yes, Cody. This is much clearer.
I will have to get in there and fill out my info in my sig.

Thanks for the response, that really helps my decision. Now I will have to get it ready to ship and put the stamp on it.
