Edge Error Message External Memory Needs Flashed??

A friend of mine just bought a used edge and after going through the fusion software and getting it all updated, installed it on the truck, all we get when we turn the key on is 2 messages. One says 'boot image not found' or something like that, and then the second message says 'External Memory needs to be flashed' and hangs up on that screen and then at the bottom tells us to cal edge tech support. Won't get past it no matter what we try. Anyone every heard of this before?

Did you turn the key ON before plugging the Edge into the OBDII port? It has to be done in that order.

If you did it in the right order though, I'd say do what the screen says and call Edge.

Can we get a few more details? Model Number? Version? Date of Manufacture? This would be quite helpful.

Actually we got it figured out. Something went wrong during the update process. Called tech support and they 'reset' it so that it would allow another try at updating the device and now everything is working perfectly. I need to call back in to them and report that it did get fixed so they can log it for future references.

Good to hear and glad you're back in business!

Awesome. :2thumbs: I figured as much, given the nature of what happened. Glad it's resolved. :D

But actually, I'd love to know what went wrong during update. Having done it a few times it doesn't seem like there are too many ways to have things go wrong. You just select update and then sit back and watch it happen.
