My first programmer, Already need Help!
I picked up a used Gryphon, when I received it, it already had 2 custom tunes on it, I hooked it up to pegasus and loaded the "canned" tunes back to it.
When I hooked it up to my truck, all looked fine until I went to load a program and got a checksum error. From what I've read this occurs when the stock tune has already been replaced. I bought truck used about 6 months ago, so this is entirely possible. I understand Bill can straighten this out. I'm looking to get a custom tune also, whats the best way to get this straightened out? Thanks a TON! I look forward to trying the programmer out! :thumbs up yellow: |
You can return the truck to stock at the Ford dealer easy enough. Your hex code will change, but with a "stock" Gryphon it won't matter.
At that point, try turning on the ignition BEFORE plugging in the OBD2 cable in the truck. |
I have resolved my problem with pegasus (thanks to a windows xp machine) and the stock "canned" tunes are loaded on the programmer.
Still no luck with the checksum failed; Is the only way to have this resolved to take the truck to the dealer? I havn't had much luck with the dealers around here, and they tend to charge an arm and a leg. I thought I read somewhere yall may be able to send me a "stock" tune file to load on it to get me going again..is this true? I'm more than happy to pay for your time, I also would like to see about getting a custom tune built, after this is straightened out. Thanks again for the help! |
You'll need to get the pcm reflashed at the dealer to get the tune off the pcm...

thanks everyone, I'll start looking into getting the dealer to reflash it..
Then its on to ordering my CUSTOM tunes! (hope the custom tunes are better than the "aftermarkert" tunes that on the truck already! lol :thumbs up yellow: |
