Glow plugs not working in '03 when chip is in PCM

I put a Phoenix chip in my friends '03 F350 with California emissions. The glow plugs will not come on when the chip is in the PCM. Remove the chip and the glow plugs will come on and the truck fires up.

Anyone had this issue?

Yeah, you're using 49-state calibrations on the chip. CA emissions trucks use a glow plug module instead of a relay. This requires a different control strategy than "normal" trucks.

I guarantee that the hex code you're using on the chip doesn't look like something like this:
"TNAA4N2".

look like I may need to get the calibration.
