HELP!

I can not figure out how to unhook the diagnostic connector; do i need to unhook the whole mount? Or should the blue piece slide out the back? I feel like an idiot

One of us is confused I think? I've never unhooked the diagnostic connector. Are you possibly talking about connecting the Gryphon to the diagnostic port?

If so, it is just as complicated as plugging your cell phone charger into a wall socket. The diagnostic port (also known as an OBDII port) is like the wall socket. It just sits there waiting for you to plug the Gryphon's cable plug into it. The port's opening faces you in the front seat. Line up the cable's plug, give it a simple push, and you're done!

Don't worry, mounting the Gryphon is so simple a 5-year old could do it. It takes me all of two minutes now to do the whole process (if I've removed it for a visit to the dealer).

I think I may be looking at the wrong cables, could you tell me how to find the right one? i believe i may be looking in the wrong area, is it the black connector port that is visible when you are just sitting in the drivers seat? or can you not see it until you take off the side access panel?

thanks for your help!

jackandjanet i apologize, i got it now, i was looking way to far into things...please excuse my ignorance, haha, going to install it now!

Good, glad it makes sense! There are hundreds of connectors under there, aren't there? Half the problem just seems to be learning the jargon.

Make sure you have the ignition key in the ON position (engine OFF) when you plug the Gryphon in, or it won't initialize properly. (This is sort of counter-intuitive too, isn't it? We're always taught to have everything electrically OFF when making connections, but here, we do just the opposite!)

Just an FYI, the OBDII port must either be visable without removing any paneling or be under a cover clearly labeled as the OBDII diagnostic port. part of the Federal Emissions law when OBDII standard was created. :thumbs up yellow:

well its all plugged in, im going to go for a drive!!!

Now that's something I didn't know at all about the OBD port! Another bit of trivia to clog up my 16-bit mind (and I've only got an 2-bit processor)! :)

Thanks, southpaw - by the way, I'm left-handed too. I used to tell my students I was like this to give them a laugh while they watched me write.

Congratulations, Dan - It was fun to see it light up, wasn't it?

Southpaw's rule, You, me and President Obama :cool_beans:
:doing the wave::doing the wave::doing the wave:
Oh and we do rule, not just a figure of speech... check out this Washington post article Lefty Presidents

Actually when I was teaching, I had one period that I taught all the at-risk kids. I think there was about 7 in the class at the time and all but 1 of them was a lefty..... to this day I am convinced it was more than a coincidence..
We just operate differently i think and that just doesn't jive with the right handed general populus
