Are you sure your transmission doesn't have some sort of "shift kit" or valve body work done to it? I looked over your previous posts and see that you mentioned something about an aftermarket torque converter. I doubt the previous owner stopped there. The transmission should not shift that hard unless something's been done to it.
As for the lack of power (or perceived power) in 1st and 2nd, it can be attributed to a few possible things such as boost leaks, drive pressure leaks, etc. but most likely you're just noticing how much difference there is between when the torque converter clutch is applied and when it's not. Without actually driving the truck, it's anyone's guess as to what it could be.
