Thanks for the feedback. Not low on oil, but there were a couple of tiny bubbles on the stick. Running Amzoil, if it matters. This is a 2003 excursion, by the way, with about 167k on it. The SES light didnt go off on its own in the 10-20 minutes or so it was on. I tried a restart and it went off for a couple of seconds and came back on. It seems to be running great, so I'm not going to worry at this point, but may consider a new hpop when I get home.
