Pulling a load
so i read somewhere on here that when you get your custom tunes...tow tune... that you are not supposed to turn off the o/d. is this true or not? also if i haven't received my tunes yet can i ensure bill knows that i am pulling a 5000# trailer with 35's ?

If you start feeling your tranny hunting for the right gear(s) then yes turn the od off. But if you don't feel it shifting around then leave it alone.

No, leave the od alone. But when starts to really shift around like in hilly country then turn it off.

as long as you have 3.73s and not 3.55s you can tow 5000# easily with 35s. If you have 3.55s you mind find hills difficult to maintain speed on.

Onlildude, what Lars is saying is, let the transmission guide you. You want to minimize shifting, But, you also don't want to run at a higher RPM than necessary. If it's shifting in and out of 4th, turn O/D off. If it starts shifting between 2nd and 3rd, move the transmission shift lever down into 2nd.
I'm going to move this thread in to the new Towing section we have. It contains useful information for people who tow. - Jack
