Traction Control and Gryphon Tunes
This may be a question for Bill. This question came up in discussion while I wait for my Gryphon to arrive. How (if at all) does the Gryphon handle the traction control algorithm that is in the Powertrain Control Module that cuts engine power during a percieved loss of traction. Does this module override the traction control?

About 3 months ago this topic was discussed and Bill might be able to do something about it but for right now the gryphon with canned or custom tunes does not do anything with it.
Look for this thread in gryphon programmers. "Question for the Mad Dr." http://dygytalworld.ehost-services13...ight=parabolic Lars

I did a search on "traction" and this is the only relevant thread that came up; I'm surprised there aren't more people discussing it.
I'm thinking of trading my '08 (gryphon custom tuned) in for a '10, and the more I read about the traction control the more I dislike. Does Bill have the ability to completly disable this feature with his custom tunes? Thanks. |

I thought it was possible to turn the traction control off. I checked my owner's manual to make sure and it says it is possible but you will have to turn it off every time you crank the truck. That was another option I decided to skip and save money on so I only know as much as Ford is willing to tell in their manual.

I had read that as well, but what I understand to mean by "turning it off" is that in 4L it will be disabled, but in 4H & 2H it is disabled up to a certain speed (30mph?). What if I want to brake and rooster-tail mud 15ft ?
That may not be entirely correct, just my understanding, but in all honesty it's a feature I'd like to do without and hope it can be disabled altogether. |

Maybe, I didn't read it past the part that said it could be turned off. 4wd was another feature I decided I didn't really need. I've been stuck one time and not even 4wd could have gotten me out because I slid down the side of a muddy hill. And thats because I was playing where I shouldn't have anyway.

My buddies '09 F-150 will do burnouts and stuff as long as u turn of the traction control. if you hold the button til the light in the dash starts blinking then the traction control, stability control, etc are all disabled. if your at a dead stop and you just hit the button it will turn off traction control, but not the other systems. tried to do donuts in it though and it won't do it(at least on dry pavement). i'm sure if it had a little more power then it would do ok, but all we have done to it is put a flowmaster super 44 on it.
