Default New at this

Want to get a edge evo for my 2008 f-150 stx 4.6L 2wd. Thinking I might just put a K&N "drop in" and a flowmaster dump exhaust. Will I need to get custom tunes of will it work out of the box?

Welcome to the forum!

You could certainly get an Edge, but virtually everyone (including me) says you'll be happier with custom tunes. The mods you propose should work fine with the Edge, but, it will cost you more in the long run when you give in and decide you DO want custom tunes.

So, my advice is, to get a Gryphon and ONE custom tune for the type of driving you normally do. Later, you can get another if you want it.

I have two tunes; one for towing and one for driving without the trailer. That's all I ever seem to want or need.

Welcome!

Jack is right, you'd probably be better off with the Gryphon; especially if you think you may want to do more to your truck any time in the future.
