Default Error Codes Question.

Hey guys I just had a question as far as the error codes that the
programmer reads. If an error code arises and you clear it if the
same parameters are met would that error code come up again or
would the programmer not show it since you've cleared it already?
I haven't gotten any codes so far but just wanted to know how that
worked. Thanks for the replies guys and happy Easter!

A code will reappear as long as the conditions are met that it appears in the first place, so if you have a lean running cylinder for some reason, you see the code, clear it, but because you didnt fix or change anything it will reappear. hope that answers your question

I see, so it reappears? Good. What if another error code comes out and throws a code
you clear it, but you don't see it again, what's the verdict?

The verdict is that the condition that would cause the code has mysteriously gone away. (The truck has "fixed itself".) This can actually happen, under certain rare circumstances, and don't ask me what they are, because I don't know the answer!

Really, though, the "code thing" in most cases is simply an interpretation of the PCM of a voltage that it receives from a sensor. If the sensor transmits a high or low voltage, the PCM "thinks" there's a problem in the system that the sensor is monitoring and sets a code accordingly. Notice the sensor itself COULD be faulty, or, the wiring to the sensor could be faulty. Something like a wiring fault can produce a code intermittently.

Another question, just how sensitive is the error sensor for the programmer?
I'm guessing it's more sensitive than the trucks stock ecm, but just how good
is it? Thanks in advance.
