I have a 2002 and I just ordered a phoenix, an edge insight is going to make it out here probably around christmas time
 , and I will get the pyrometer with that. I was wondering the same thing and I was told that on stock injectors and exhaust we aren't going to get too high of EGTs... Once we are towing something heavy the EGT's will climb, so a sensor then would be a good idea, but if you are just using it as a daily driver then you will be fine for a few months with the chip and no gauges. The other benefit of getting the chip sooner is that if you drive right, you might see better gas mileage which will help offset the cost of the guages
