The canned tow tune is designed for 87 octane fuel. You CAN run higher octane gas in it if you want. To take advantage of the better anti-knock properties of 89 octane, you SHOULD be able to advance your timing by 1 degree if you fill with that stuff.
However, since towing DOES put a load on the engine, I think I'd try advancing the timing by 0.5 degrees at first and see if you notice any detonation. If all is well, move it up to the full 1 degree in 0.25 degree increments. Canned Level 3 is set for 91+ octane. The timing and fuel strategies are correct for 91. If you put 93 octane in, you should be able to increase timing again by 1 degree. Custom tunes seem to be running 4-6 weeks now? Bill and Corey are busier than ever! Tow tunes are designed to improve low end torque - to get you moving pulling a load. And, I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you are asking in your second post. - Jack
