I HAVE actually modded my truck a bit, but not for performance (unless you count the Gryphon), and it's my favorite mod.
I installed a Ford Daytime Running Lights module, because I'm absolutely convinced these things could save our lives when driving on 2-lane country roads. It involved about an afternoon of dash dis-assembly and locating and splicing into wires, but the result is "perfect". They illuminate at 60% brightness and don't interfere with the automatic ON feature. I had to pull the steering wheel too, when it was time to reinstall the steering column housing, and that was a whole lot of fun! I put in a Ford Magellan GPS. Very easy mod that replaces the "tray" in the middle of the dash and simply plugs into the radio harness with an included connector. (Almost as easy as installing a Gryphon). I've installed a trailer brake controller for our towing needs. Screwed the unit into the dash plastic below and to the right of the steering wheel. Pretty simple and it works fine. Replaced the interior lights and outside mirror puddle lamps with LEDs. I like the look a lot. The headlights are now Silverstars and the parking lamps are "stealth" bulbs. Added a "Fire and Ice light bar" below the tailgate because I liked what I saw when I saw one in a parking lot one day. And having been rear-ended twice, I'm hoping to prevent a third time. For appearance, I've added a lower honeycomb grill that complements the upper H-Bar grill and covers the ugly gaping hole down there. Installed a Lund bug deflector to keep rocks off the front of the hood. Molded mud flaps to help keep the dirt and mud off the sides (they work). The license plate lights are now LEDs too. And, for utility, an A.R.E. bed cap. Keeps our stuff secure and dry when we go camping. It's fun to "personalize" a vehicle, isn't it? - Jack |
