ok this is kinda along that line but different lol, thankfully we do not need yearly inspections here, but will not having the lighter fuse installed at all effect the programmer at all ? on my 97 i have two ports one is the lighter on the right and the other beside on the left is a secondary power supply which has power all the time and i use , same damn thing in my mind, but the lighter doesn't recieve power due to i have not put in the large square 3 prong 25 relay looking fuse, do i have to in order to utilize my programmer fulltime?

Dan,
I'm pretty sure that on most vehicles out there that the power supply is shared between the obdII port and the cigarette lighter port. The secondary power ports are sometimes ran off a different circut due to possible higher draws incase the lighter is ever used as intended and overloads the circut. Might want to make sure all your fuses are intack.

Alls I know is that in times past when hooking up and unhooking scan tools is that sometimes the fuses are already week and using the scan tool some how gets them to pop.

wish i read this one yesterday
 lol i could have picked up the relayfuse while i was in the city, its a 4 hr drive to the place i can get any sort of car parts oh well, i think my tuner will be here in a couple days so i have till then to find someone else with a 97 or 98 in the community and borrow his till i have time on our trip next monday to the bigger city for xmas thanks for the heads up

yeah i just looked it only has a 10 amp fuse in it but it isn't blown, owners manual say it needs a 25 amp fuse for it, don't think i have ever seen a 25, lots of 20's and 30's though
