Default Trans hard shift question

I recently installed my FU and when I am in 80hp or 100hp shifting from 1st to second my trans shifts VERY hard but only during that transition. This only happens when I am accelerating pretty good. All the rest of the shifts are incredibly smooth. Is this normal?

I won't downplay anybody's specific tuning but yes, it is normal. The reasoning behind the very firm shifts is the reduction of "burn time" that the friction material on the clutches have to endure under higher than stock power levels.

If there is no compensation for the added power and accelerator pedal position (one of the PCM's load calculations), then the shifts will drag out for a long time and actually do more harm to the transmission.

The harshness can be tuned out but there's a trade-off.
