PLEASE HELP! HIGH EGT'S!
Anybody know why my egt's are 1000-1350* while towing the toy hauler, OD is OFF. The tralier is about 10,000#. With a free flowing exhaust and tymar, and adrenaline, something is not right! Please help before I go . BTW, this is using my heavy tow tune.

my trucks all run 1000 to 1350* EGT while pulling heavy on hot days, except my 2000 F550 after I put 90cc single shot injectors in it, now it have a hard time getting 1150* EGT. With the stock split shots it would get to 1400* EGT, with a 4" turbo back and a 6637 intake.
Is your '97 a California model? dose it have split shots? IMHO split shot make hotter EGTs then singles

Have you checked for boost or exhaust leaks yet?

Nothing is loose or obvious as far as either go. Since I have no cooler, the only boost leaks would be from the y pipe into the motor, right? As far as exhaust leaks, is there way to check besides looking and listening?

Boost leaks can include the turbo outlet o-ring, intake boots, intake manifolds or any combination of the three.
Looking for the exhaust leak is the easiest way to tell, you will see the soot around the problem area. What are your boost #'s when EGT's are high? Good Luck |

Don't see any leaks on the exhaust side. Everything is tight on the boost side. Talked to a "turbo" guy, he said the boost #'s that I am seeing are low and the turbo wheels could be worn, which could be the higher than wanted egts. Does this sound right?
