Injector discharge
Not necessarily tuning but I think you guys can help. Basically what I want to know is, say my 180cc single shot 80% nozzle injector is is open for 2.064ms how much fuel is discharged from the injector.
Also can someone clear up what is an 180cc injector is. I mean what about the injector is 180cc's? Thanks John

I believe that is it volume per hour, or minute, or something like that. Basically it is how much gas it can put in.

Thanks I figured it was a flow rate. So if it is it will be easy to answer my first question.

These ratings are what an injector can flow in 1000 shots, typically flowed at 3.5ms. Everyone has there own method of flow testing their injector so its hard to say for sure exactly the PW and ICP used during the test.

Anyone know the typical icp they are testes at?

I'm going to have to go read that thread.
But to answer you question the 180cc is how much total volume the injector can flow per 1000 shots. So at max ICP and PW this is how much you'll get out. Now depending on the nozzle and a couple of other things the actual pw it takes to get fuel out is going to be determined by the ICP. More ICP more fuel faster. Bigger nozzle and same ICP more fuel faster. However this number shouldn't be determined by a given pw and/or ICP. It should be total volume. Essentially this will be the bore times the stroke of the plunger which is determined by the plunger being used (6mm stock or 7mm for hybrid/B-Code) and the length of the intensifier piston. Now for the second part of your question. The amount of fuel being discharged at your given pw is going to depend on the actual nozzles you have and the ICP at the time of injection. If you have more ICP you'll be getting more fuel. If you have less ICP you'll be getting less fuel out. At 2.064ms I doubt you're getting all your fuel out. More pw will likely result in getting more fuel out of the injectors. When I flow test injectors I do several tests. I do 400, 600, 1,500, 2,000, and 3,000 rpm tests. They all vary the ICP and PW to simulate each of these rpm's in the truck. I'm not sure how other injector builders do it but that's how I do it. |
