Do I need to plug my Gryphon in?
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but it's early and I haven't had enough coffee yet!
I've been getting nothing but 00000 (Zeros) for the last few weeks when I check the Pegasus update manager. I have yet to plug my Gryphon in to the computer since I don't have my custom tunes yet and I was wondering if I needed to do that to see the update status or where you guys are in programming? After checking the FAQs I saw this and wasn't sure if this had been implemented yet: "Second, a number of people have expressed a desire to have the ability to check for updates without actually having to plug their unit in. We will be adding this feature in an upcoming revision. This should help simplify the whole update process for everyone." |

I was told that bill put the update to "0000" because many people were getting upset because he wasn't updating them each time he finished a tune.

Have you gotten any communications from php yet? Like a pm or email.
Yes the zeros are in there so people don't get antsy. Lars

I'm not in a huge hurry to get my tunes, I'll be patient and wait till Bill gets to them because I want them done right, so that's not the issue. I just wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong by not having the programmer plugged in and when I saw the zeros I started questioning my own practices.
I entered my hex code and serial number manually into Pegasus rather than have it pull it from the Gryphon (if it even does that) so I wasn't sure if I needed to connect the unit at all (I have that info on my profile here on the forums as well). Haven't gotten a PM or email as it's only been about a month so I wasn't expecting my tunes yet. I've only played with Pegasus twice since getting my Gryphon so I was more concerned if I was using it correctly. |

P40 - You COULD set your unit back to stock and then bring it in and plug it into the PC after you have "activated" Pegasus. If you click on Updates->Targeted Functions, Pegasus will then be able to look for any tunes that have been written for your unit. If they are not ready, you'll just see a "not found" message.
I hope Bill will reinstate the "Update Status" feature in Pegasus sometime. It was too bad we had several people complain that it wasn't changing fast enough. I thought it was a useful feature. Edit: We just posted at the same time. I don't know if Pegasus can look for your tunes if you've "registered" and don't have the unit plugged in. It's possible Bill has changed something in the "Update Status" to support this. It would be a nice feature. - Jack

The "status" will still show if there are any updates available for a specific user. It just doesn't show the last time updates were applied on the server. Considering that I do calibrations in "chunks" and it's usually from 12:00 am to 6:00 am, I'd often forget to update the "current working" information and would result in some rather nasty posts. Plus, people do not seem to understand that just because there was a 125 invoice spread between the current number and their invoice that it didn't mean there were actually 125 calibrations in front of them, but usually more like 20 or 30.
We originally added that feature as a means to help customer in case their invoice accidentally got skipped, but it unfortunately caused more aggravation than it was worth. So from this point, if you've connected your unit and filled in and submitted your registration information, the [Check for Updates] function will be able to tell you if there are any calibrations available for your unit, even with the unit disconnected. Again, you MUST fill in the registration information so that the software can store the serial number of your unit for later reference. I apologize to anyone for the inconvenience cause by having to disable the current working status, but it cost me and Corey more time having to deal with complaints than it spent saving by answering a few e-mails. Take care.
