Question Cylinder head temp Q

Hey guys!
.......what is normal CH temp?
I have not yet shown this in my display but I am going to shortly and want to know what I should be looking for!
I assume it varies a fair bit from cruise, WOT and while towing say 2-3000lbs?

Also, does anybody know how much higher the CH temp would be if your were running a little too lean at cruise (like say 15.9:1 or 16.0:1).

thanks,
Chris

I've seen around 215 to 235 on average, which translates to about 195 on the ECT. ECT is actually inferred from CHT so you can use either value.

At cruise, there is very little load so temp shouldn't be too far out of line, even when slightly lean. Where you need to be concerned is under moderate to heavy loads. At this point, it's not so much how high the temps get, but how fast they change. A 25 degree rise in temp over a couple minutes is not a huge deal when under a moderate load, but 25 degrees in 30-60 seconds could indicate excessive cylinder temps.

Hope this helps.
