Im am thinking of getting an fu chip. I like the facti can pick my own programs and get updating. I just got my truck its a f350 4x4 dually 7.3 It has intake and exhaust done. Dunno about fuel system. Turbo looks new. My biggest concern is the tranny. Putting amsoil in it. I do not want to blow it up. SOOO im looking for an eco mode. I travel 38 miles one way 1/3 is mountain driving and its laggen bad in the mountains. What type of eco modes do you have i only say 2. I also want some power programs for fun but dont wanna trash the tranny. Tell me what you think. I did read all your programs what do u recommend
Ps. 70 mph is about 2200 rpm |

I'm not looking for 400 horsepower. I am looking enough horsepower for when I need it and to impress my friends when I give them rides. I will be maintaining the transmission and driving responsibly. At the moment I'm going to use Amsoil and hopefully I'll get a bigger cooler and a bigger pan. I would really love if I could get that fuel sipper program. I do alot of highway driving and use cruise control alot. I understand fuel economy and I'm doing a lot of stuff to get better gas economy with all my vehicles. What would you recommend the highest I go with "fun" I am a mechanic and do my own work. I do own a 12Ft camper and am going to put an extension on the back so I can tow our 17ft boat also that is pretty heavy.
Ps. I really really really would like that sipper program or something similar. If you would like you can email me. epowers777@gmail.com |

I don't sell my programming here. I do know that the fuel sipper calibration will do nothing for you mileage-wise at highway speeds, cruise control or not. The best calibrations for economy will be either the 65 or 80 HP Daily Driver tunes.
As for towing, you may want to stick with a 40 HP heavy towing tune and possibly the 65 HP towing tune for lighter loads. The 100 HP performance program should run really well. The main thing to remember is that the transmission is at it's most vulnerable state during shifts (primarily the 1-2 shift) so going easy on the truck until you hit 25-30 MPH is advisable.

If you want better economy while on the road stay under 2000 rpms. I know you might not like to go that speed but I can tell you from experiance that having 4wd and going over 2K rpms will hurt. Even 4wd by itsself will hurt it. What kind of mpgs are you getting now? 15-18?

Im sorry I havent responded my internet has been down. Im not sure of the mpg. I just got the truck and not sure what its getting. Ive been staying around 64 which is 1800 rpm just under 2000. I am hoping to get highway gears on it.
I forgot to say in the mountain hills it shifts alot between drive and 3rd its eaither to high rpm or to low.Im defently getting the chip. Do you rocommend a monitoring system or guages? Do you offer a monitoring system? |

Unfortunately, the transmission ratios (your either too high or too low comment dealing with RPM) are not changeable. Usually a small power increase is going to allow you to be able to stay in that higher gear (4th) longer before a downshift. Yes, a monitoring system of some sort for exhaust gas temperature is almost mandatory.
Oh, and don't worry about high RPM when pulling. It's better for the engine to run at 3000 RPM with less load than it is at 2000 while lugging. Your 7.3L can run at 3000 RPM all day and not be hurt by it.

Im finally got to look at you whole site and liking the gryphon programmer. Can i put any 3 progrms I want on there? like eco mode tow and race? Also can you change them or once there burned theres no way to change them? Can the gryphon monitor your car say if the tranny slips itll cut fuel or is it just a monitoring system?
What you like better fu or gryphon? |

I am going to jump in here and agree with Cody. Everything he has stated I have experienced on my 2003 F350 with a 7.3L in.
I will also say I get my best millege with the 80HP daily driver and never use the fuel sipper. On the freeway in the flats I can get up to 20MPG if I keep it between 65-70. I do not have a dually but it has 33" tires and a leveling kit. Joe

Thanks, Joe.
epowers777, You can have any three programs you would like on the Gryphon and they can be changed at any time you desire as long as you contact Bill and tell him what you want changed. As for the cutting of fuel for slippage thing, I don't know for sure how that works. I would have to tell you to do some research on the Edge Evolution (new generation) for your truck and you will find your answer. I don't have time to do it now since I have a fire department meeting in a little bit and I have to eat.....dang necessities in life anyway. Good luck!
